2. Swim With... Whale

The final sea creature!
could NOT get a photo with a whale

I have moved to Hervey Bay which, conveniently, is known for it's whale watching! Humpback whales stop over in a bay close by to chill out and socialise on their way back down to Antarctica.
So when my family came all the way over from W.A. to see me and I took them whale watching!

We saw baby whales and mummy whales and daddy whales come close to the boat and swim around. They would lift their tails out of the water and wave with their fins, it was pretty amazing.

they were even closer! we just got too excited to take a photo!
It wasn't until right towards the end of the day that we were all blown away... two whales decided to have fun and "mug the boat" (the tour guide said it, I didn't make it up!) They were SO CLOSE!! I was within a meter of being able to touch one! I just couldn't quite reach! Mum and I were standing on the back platform of the boat which was a grate over the water. Every time the waves came or the whales sloshed some water around, the platform went under water and we would get our legs wet! I figured that's close enough to be called swimming!

I seriously recommend coming to Hervey Bay ans going on a whale watching tour (tourism plug, I know). But it is AWESOME!

So that's it! Number 2 on the list completed! I might have to cross of whales twice though.. I still want to swim with the whale sharks!
